I made these pies last year for the Kentucky Derby, I gave them to my Mom and she took them to a Derby Party 🙂 and they went over so well, they asked her to bring them again 🙂 So I will be making her a couple of pies for this Saturday. I have two recipes here, the one I am going to go with in the #2, that one was the winner of the two…although they loved them both!! So for this Saturday, Derby Day make your pie!!!! Enjoy!!!

Yes horse racing, and not just horse racing “The Kentucky Derby” 

The Kentucky Derby is held annually in Louisville, Kentucky, United States, on the first Saturday in May, capping the two-week-long Kentucky Derby Festival. 

This Saturday (first Saturday in May) May 4th, 2013, will be the
139th running of The Kentucky Derby!!

 The race is known in the United States as “The Most Exciting TwoMinutes In Sports” or “The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports” (hencethe name of my recipe)  for its approximate duration, and is also called “The Run for the Roses” for the blanket of roses draped over the winner.

  1. These look yummy! I think I would like to try making pie #2! I didn’t even watch the Kentucky Derby but hope it was a success and exciting! I’ve been to one horse race in New Orleans and it was a lot of fun!

    • Yes Kristen I like the #2 the best too, that is the recipe I use for the pies I made for my Mom yesterday for her party.
      I didn’t pick the winner, I like to by names I like, or the color of the jockey’s silks 🙂 That did not work for me this time 🙂 Have a great Sunday!!!
